Saxony - Teacher Training
In Autumn 2018, Edinburgh College was selected by the British Council Germany to deliver a 1-week teaching methodology course for a group of 20 secondary teachers from the Saxony-Anhalt region of Germany.
The course comprised sessions focusing on English language development, with a specific focus on oral communication skills. The course also focussed on the effective use of modern technology in the classroom in order to facilitate individual learning in English classes. In addition, participants had the opportunity to refresh their knowledge of recent/current developments in Scotland and the UK and gain an insight into contemporary British culture. All current affairs/cultural sessions were interactive and provided the opportunity for participants to develop their oral communication, discussion and presentation skills.
Edinburgh College trainers utilised a communicative approach and focussed on creating a learner-centred classroom. In so doing, they modelled best practice techniques in communicative language teaching, which participants were able to take back to their own classrooms.
A very friendly team who made all the necessary efforts to offer us a great experience.Maria Daniela Hartman
