Counsellors provide counselling services to clients with a wide variety of problems and assist them to reach their own resolutions to the difficulties they face. Counsellors may specialise in a particular area or client group or address a wide range of issues. According to Career Coach, the average salary for a Counsellor is £25, 106, with new workers starting around £19,323. Highly experienced workers can earn up to £33,696.

Introduction to Counselling (SCQF Level 5)
The aim of this course is to introduce you to skills required to offer support through listening and responding skills. You will learn about the counselling relationship, exploring different modes of counselling and learning how to apply the skills of active listening to different settings. Following this course, you may have the option to progress to HNC level.
This is a part-time or evening course, taught one day or evening per week.

Counselling HNC (SCQF Level 7)
The HNC is aimed at those working in or seeking to work in a variety of counselling settings within the public, voluntary and private sectors. This qualification incorporates the knowledge, understanding and skills required for progression into employment or further study at diploma level.
This course is taught full-time (three days per week) or part-time (one day per week).

COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills (SCQF Level 7)
The COSCA Certificate is the perfect theoretical and practical course allowing you to develop the ability to establish a safe and trusting relationship with another person by becoming a Reflective Practitioner. Once all four modules are complete you could progress to study at HNC/HND level.
This is a part-time course or evening course, taught three hours per week for 12 weeks.
