Edinburgh College Graduate Diploma Show arrives at the Fruitmarket Gallery this May

Graduate Show (1)

Edinburgh College School of Art and Design will present its annual end of year exhibition that showcases work from graduating Higher Education Diploma students across all specialist subjects next weekend.

Staff, students and members of the public are invited to attend the Fruitmarket Gallery from Friday 20 until Sunday 22 May to see the cutting-edge contemporary Art and Design work from Edinburgh’s new creatives before they move into further study or employment.

Within the exhibition, which will be open from 11am – 6pm, attendees will see a range of work by final year students who have specialised over two years in 3D Animation, 3D Design, Computer Arts and Design, Contemporary Art Practice, Textiles, Graphics, Illustration and User Experience.

The Graduate Diploma Show celebrates and showcases the final year Higher Education student work from the School of Art and Design, which is one of the largest of its kind in the UK, with over 700 students across our UAL Diplomas and specialist NCs and HNDs.

“Our students have been hard at work over the past few months creating their artworks and are really looking forward to showcasing their talents as part of the Graduate Diploma Show next weekend. Our courses are purposefully developed to prepare students for advanced entry to Degree Level study, employment or freelance practice and the School has been ranked top for Higher Education Art and Design achievement in the Scottish College sector for the third consecutive year. The School has strong links working with industry and academic partners across the UK and Europe with students regularly winning prestigious awards. Our Graduating HND students have shown real personal creativity and resilience whilst studying online and developing their creative practice during the pandemic and we are delighted to return again to showcase our students’ achievements in the physical space of Fruitmarket.
Edinburgh College Head of School for Art and Design Neil Manning

Building on this success of these courses, Edinburgh College's Art and Design School have announced it will be delivering a new BA (Hons) Visual Communications degree in 22/23 validated by Kingston University.

This exciting new course has been developed by the College's Visual Communications lecturers with invaluable support from our industry partners and the award-winning Design School at Kingston School of Art.

We are celebrating the launch of the new BA Visual Communication course a joint project between us and Edinburgh College which is a really great opportunity to build on the phenomenal work of the HND Visual Communications courses at the College. "This course is an additional one year of study, taught at Edinburgh College with students graduating with a BA (Hons) in Visual Communication, ratified by us at Kingston University. Massive congratulations to the Edinburgh College students, our future designers and we look forward to seeing their inspiring work.
