This course is for S5 & S6 pupils who are at school and will provide students with a structured opportunity to experience a number of recognised ways to lead others in fitness activities. The award helps students develop personal leadership qualities, knowledge and skills in fitness.
What you will learn
- How to lead others in fitness activities such as Cardiovascular Training, Fixed weights and Free Weight Training and an understanding of these activities' physiological effects on body systems
How the course is assessed
The course is assessed on an ongoing basis using a variety of methods which can include:
- written assessments
- group exercises
- practical tasks
Number of days per week
- Passes at grade C or above for Nat 5 qualifications preferably in PE and English
- An active interest/participation in fitness activities such as gym-based training, indoor group exercise or outdoor group fitness training. This can be in a sport or personal fitness context
English Proficiency RequirementsIELTS 5.5
Progression and Articulation Routes
- HNC/D Fitness, Health and Exercise Year 1 (must also have 1 relevant Higher at C or above)
