Course overview
Sport and Fitness Activity Leadership is a stepping stone towards a rewarding career in sports coaching or the leisure industry by introducing you to practical skills and knowledge in a range of coaching and fitness techniques. You will study a variety of topics, develop your practical skills and discover your fitness/coaching potential as you take part in a coaching placement. This placement will take place once a week in local primary schools and will give you valuable practical experience in the industry as well as strengthen your employability skills. To succeed on this course, you will need to have a good level of communication, an active interest in exercise, fitness and working with children and be physically fit.What you will learn

How the course is assessed
On a continual basis through written tests, group exercises and practical exercises. You will put together practical and written evidence in the form of a portfolio.

- 4
Entry requirements
- Three passes
at National 4 in relevant subject areas, English and/or a science subject
would be advantageous but not essential
- Appropriate
experience would be helpful either from placements undertaken at school or
other involvement in the industry
- If you
do not have the formal requirements but you are a mature student, wanting
to change career or have taken a career break to raise a family you are
welcome to apply
- In
these or other cases we would consider work experience, life skills and
potential ability
Information on Tests / Auditions / Interview Requirements
- You
will be invited to attend an interview where you will be expected to
demonstrate a knowledge of and active participation in sport and fitness
activities
- There
will be a one to one discussion with a member of the sport and fitness
team
- This may be achieved either face to face or remotely through a platform such as Skype
